Embrace Freedom, Embrace Comfort Contact Lenses!
Glasses are great, but sometimes you need a little more versatility in your life. Enter contact lenses, your ticket to clear vision without the frames! At Eyes on 45th, we've got the perfect contact lenses to suit your lifestyle and needs.

Types of Contact Lenses
There are two main types of contact lenses: disposable and non-disposable. Disposable lenses are designed for one-time use and must be thrown away after wear. Non-disposable lenses can be worn for months or even years at a time but must be cleaned and sterilized regularly.
Disposable contact lenses do not require a prescription and can be purchased over-the-counter at most drugstores and supermarkets. However, non-disposable contact lenses do require a prescription from an optometrist. This is because they must be fitted to your individual eyesight needs and eye shape.
How Contact Lenses Work
Won’t it be great when we can have contact lenses that double as mini-computers, projecting information directly into our eyeballs? We’re not quite there yet, but regular old contact lenses are pretty amazing too.
Most people think that contacts just sit on top of your eyeball, but they actually bond with the surface of your eye. They do this because they’re made of a material that has a slightly higher water content than your eye. Water is attracted to other water, so the lens water wants to merge with the eye water. This makes the lens stick, in a non-irritating way.
The interaction between the contact and your eye also allows oxygen to pass through, which is important for healthy eyes. So how do you get them out? You just blink! When you blink, your eyelids act like a squeegee and push the contacts off of your eyes. Then they float around in your tear film until you put them back in. Pretty cool, huh?
Why See an Optometrist?
As we mentioned earlier, not all contact lenses are the same. There are many different types available on the market, and it can be difficult to know which ones are right for you without professional help. That’s where an optometrist comes in.
We can conduct a thorough examination of your eyes and prescribe the perfect lenses for your individual needs. Additionally, we can provide fitting and care instructions to help you get the most out of your new lenses.
